3. Deactivation of the Oxidative Enzymes
Oxidative enzymes are needed to produce energy through an aerobic pathway. If these enzymes are deactivated the cell will not be able to utilize sufficient amounts of oxygen (even if vast amounts have entered the cell); and, as a result, the cell would be forced to revert to an anaerobic pathway to produce its energy. This anaerobic mode of energy production, called fermentation, is the primary factor that distinguishes a cancer cell (which is a somewhat primitive life form) from a normal cell (which is a highly- advanced life form).
The primary oxidative enzyme (called cytochrome a/a3) is deactivated through the consumption of “respiratory poisons” which come in the form of preserved meats, nitrates, and too much animal fat; and when the body lacks the minerals and nutrients needed to construct these enzymes. The presence of heavy metals (such as nickel and mercury) as well as electro-magnetic stressors also damage oxidative enzymes.
The action of these oxidative enzymes (and cellular respiration) can be restored through the intake of a specialized formula called Zell Oxygen, which becomes even more powerful when combined with royal jelly. (For more information on the use of Zell Oxygen, see the two papers by Serge Jurasunas, posted below.) Eating foods that are considered “hydrogen acceptors” can also help activate cellular respiration. These foods include beet crystals or organic beet juice powder (a major ingredient of "Groil Sauce"), flavanoids (found in blueberry, cherries, grapes, blackberries, and raspberries), bromelain (especially when combined with quercetin), foods that contain beta carotene (such as carrots or carrot juice), propolis, and squalene (found in wheat germ oil and olive oil). Dr. Paul Seeger, the foremost cancer researcher of his time---and perhaps of all time---used beetroot juice, plus dex-lactic acid, plus black currant juice (for its vitamin C content) as a powerful restorer of oxidative enzymes. Foods and drinks that are high in dex-lactic acid include sauerkraut juice (a glass of which is taken every day in the Budwig Protocol), fermented vegetable juice, Kombucha, as well as certain strains used to make yogurt or kefir bacteria, such as Bifido bacterium longum, Lactobacillus Casei, and Streptococcus Lactis.
A substance devised by Dr. Koch, called glyoxylide, was said to restore oxidative respiration, and reverse all cancer growth, with a single injection. However, the exact formula used by Dr. Koch has since been lost.
For more information on kefir and dextrorotatory lactic acid see:
>> Dex-Lactic Acid and Kefir.
Note when reading the article: Dextrorotatory lactic acid, which is right-turning and positive (and considered beneficial) is herein designated as dex-lactic acid but it is more commonly designated by the term L(+) lactic acid.
Restoring Cellular Respiration
(and the enzyme cytochrome a/a3)
A primary way to restore cellular respiration is to supplement your diet with Zell Oxygen (or its more advanced form, Zell Immunocomplex). Certain co-factors, such as the constituents in royal jelly, greatly enhance the activity of Zell Oxygen.
In addition, eating foods that are hydrogen acceptors can help activate cellular respiration. Of particular benefit are: a) beet crystals (or organic beet juice powder), b) flavanoids (blueberry, cherries; also grapes, blackberries, and raspberries), c) bromelain (+quercitin). It would also be beneficial to add beta carotene (carrots or carrot juice), propolis, and/or squalene (found in wheat germ oil and olive oil).
Dr. Seeger recommended taking Beetroot Juice + Dex-Lactic Acid + black currant juice (for a Vitamin C base) in order to powerfully restore oxidative enzymes.
Green+Oil Sauce (which has been discussed in other sections of this site) specifically activates cellular respiration (in accord with Dr. Seeger's recommendations). Major components of Green+Oil Sauce (on Vegetables) include: a) Beet Juice Powder + Spinach juice powder, b) hemp oil, c) cod liver oil / salmon oil, d) garlic, e) alfalfa and barley grass juice powder, f) organic sour cream (which supplies dex-lactic acid),and g) vegetables supplying vitamin C, such as broccoli, red peppers, and asparagus. >> Green+Oil Sauce
Zell Oxygen (From the writings of Dr. Seeger)
“Zell Oxygen, on the one hand, provides the building substances needed to build-up and regeneration of the respiratory enzymes such as porphyrin, cytochrome, cysteine, glutathione, lysine, methionine, choline, but on the other hand has stimulating effect on cyto-respiration, a metabolic effect on the fibroblasts, on the intestinal flora, and a detoxifying effect on the body as a whole.”
“In biochemical terms, the highly active yeast cells of Zell Oxygen with their vital enzymes and redox systems, regenerate the respiratory ferment systems in the mitochondria of the cells and optimize utilization of the cells. (Seeger, p. 76)
“The combination of Zell Oxygen and royal jelly rapidly activates cyto-respiration. However, this is dependent upon a temperature above 35 C (95F).
“According to Wieland’s dehydration theory the first step of oxidation is removal of hydrogen. Seeger and Schact therefore used strong hydrogen acceptors (dyestuffs and natural substances) in combination with hydrogen donors. The coloring of beetroot, then, is a natural substance that is a strong hydrogen acceptor. . . . . Seeger and Schact found that combinations of beetroot juice with dextrorotatory lactic acid and ascorbic acid were capable of activating the respiration of highly virulent cancer cells by 500-1000% and even by 1250% in a sugar-free medium. (p. 82-83)
“The combination of dextrorotatory lactic acid with calcium as calcium L(+) lactate potentiates the oxidative effect of the colouring matter of beetroot in the same way as ascorbic acid.”
“The fact that yeast cells include agents stimulating the growth of connective tissue has been recognized quite early. It has been observed that yeast stimulated the connective tissue growing like a wedge into the decomposing cancerous tissue. (p. 55)
“Heparin sodium brings about disintegration of the allergic complement and thus counteracts the allergy of cancer patients to their own cancer poison. Potassium and magnesium stabilize the disturbed electrolyte balance of the cancer cell since, after all, Seeger demonstrated hitochemically in 1939 that in the course of the carcinolytic degeneration of cells potassium diffuses out of the cells whereas sodium diffuses in parallel into the cells. Aspartic acid acts as an electrolyte carrier for potassium and magnesium through the cell membrane. All ingredients are stabilized in black currant juice which contains a large quantity of Vitamin C. (p. 83-4)
"Bromelain together with Zell Oxygen improves blood flow by elimination of the latent foci of inflammation." (p. 78)
“Elimination of chronic, concealed, latent inflammation may be carried out with bactericide agents in food. These include garlic, black radish, peppermint tea, onions, beetroot juice, and all products of (+) lactic acid."
Oxidative Enzymes
The combination of flaxseed oil and sulfur protein (as found in the Budwig Protocol) not only helps to restore the di-polar charge and integrity of the cellular membrane, by allowing the cell to draw in vast amounts of oxygen, it also activates the cell's respiratory enzymes:
"Without these fatty acids the respiratory enzymes cannot function and the person suffocates, even when he is given oxygen-rich air. A deficiency in these highly unsaturated fatty-acids impairs many vital functions. First of all, it decreases the person's supply of available oxygen. We cannot survive without air and food; nor can we survive without these fatty acids. That has been proven long ago."
